Our Journey Through History
From a neighbourhood initiative in 1962 to New Bakshibagan Yuba Sangha, formally registered in 2005, our story is one of devotion, fellowship and community.
The pioneers of our first Durga Puja
In 1962, the organisation was known simply as “Yuba Sangha”. The auspicious beginning of our first Durga Puja was made possible by the following revered individuals:
- Shri Birendra Banerjee
- Shri Purnashashi Basuroy
- Shri Paresh Chandra Banik
- Shri Kshitish Chandra Sarkar
- Shri Durgaprasanna Dutta
- Shri Suresh Chandra Guha
- Shri Ramani Mohan Chakraborty
- Shri Nikhil Ranjan Mukherjee
- Shri Chandrashekhar Chatterjee
- Shri Dakshinaranjan Chakraborty
- Shri Shyamaprasad Banerjee
- Shri Mangal Thakur
Today, most of these revered personalities are no longer physically present among us. Yet, by following the path they showed us and upholding the ideals they cherished, we continue to carry forward the tradition they so lovingly established.
In those days, digital means of preserving records were not available. Although our Durga Puja continued year after year, it was not possible to preserve detailed accounts and historical records properly.
In 2005, the club, previously known as “Yuba Sangha,” was formally registered and officially recognised as “New Bakshibagan Yuba Sangha.” Over time, the scope of its activities, reputation and reach grew. Our Durga Puja also evolved into a more elaborate, vibrant and colourful celebration.
Yet our devotion to Maa Durga, sincerity, fellowship, mutual affection and goodwill have remained the foundation of our journey. Every year, women, men and children of our locality come together for Sharodotsav, making the collective effort worthwhile.
With the pioneers’ path as our guide, their ideals as our inspiration, and their blessings as our strength, New Bakshibagan Yuba Sangha continues to preserve its heritage, culture and communal harmony. We offer heartfelt respect to the memory of our departed pioneers and pray for the continued well-being of our living pioneers.
